What is a GPX file?

A GPX (GPS Exchange Format) file is a common data format that records GPS data. Most GPS watches and fitness apps (like Garmin, Polar, Suunto, etc.) allow you to export your activities as GPX files. RaceTrace uses these files to visualize and analyze your performance.

How do I get started?

It's simple! There is nothing to install. You can access it from any modern web browser on your desktop or tablet. Just sign up, go to your dashboard, and upload two or more GPX files from your past races or training runs. RaceTrace will automatically process them and you can start comparing right away.

What kind of data can I compare?

You can compare any two or more GPX files from races such as Vasaloppet, Lidingöloppet, or Vätternrundan. This is great for seeing your progress on the same course over time. You can analyze pace, elevation, and see a visual replay of the events.

What is Segment Analysis?

Segment Analysis automatically breaks down your route into smaller parts, like climbs, descents, and flat sections. It then gives you detailed statistics for each segment, so you can see how you performed on different types of terrain.

Can I share my comparisons with my coach or friends?

Currently, RaceTrace is designed for personal analysis. However, sharing features are on our roadmap for future development as a premium feature. For now, you can always take screenshots of your analysis to share.

Can I compare more than two activities at the same time?

Yes! While comparing two activities is most common for direct head-to-head analysis, our platform supports comparing multiple files at once. This is great for seeing your progress across several years or attempts on the same course.

Is my data secure?

Absolutely. We take your privacy and data security very seriously. Your GPX files are your own. We do not share your data with any third parties, and all uploads are handled over a secure connection.Learn more

Can I add GPX files from other races?

Yes! Please contact the support with a high-quality GPX file and we can add that as a template for a race in the app. In the future, you will be able to do this yourself as it is on our roadmap for future development as a premium feature.

Is RaceTrace free to use?

Yes, RaceTrace is currently free to use while we are in the early stages of development. We may introduce premium features in the future, but our goal is to always have a robust free version available for all athletes.
